    This is a temporary part-time position for the Summer.  A great opportunity for college students seeking experience working with youth.  Typical schedule would be 5 to 5 1/2hour shifts - Monday thru Friday.  Camp starts June 3 and runs through August 16.

     

    Under the direction of the Day Camp Coordinator, the Day Camp Counselor is responsible for providing a day camp program consistent with the needs and interests of the community.  Counselors work with youth of various ages and must have the ability and desire to work with children, parents, volunteers, and peers.  Counselors supervise and lead activities and events.  Counselors ensure camper safety and the well being of campers while they are in our care.    

    Responsibilities

    1. Promote the Mission of The Salvation Army.
    2. Provide building blocks of healthy development for youth through the infusing of Search Institute’s 40 Developmental assets into programming and daily interaction.
    3. Lead all day camp and other recreation activities with enthusiasm according to training protocol and written lesson plans.
    4. Adhere to and implement discipline procedures created for campers.
    5. Communicate any camper or parent issues with Day Camp Coordinator immediately. Follow up with appropriate documentation as directed.

    Qualifications

    Must be at least 18 years of age.

     

    Education & Certifications:  High School graduate. 

     

    Experience:  Experience in a gymnasium, camp, teaching, leadership, or athletic setting is helpful.
