    Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center Purpose Statement: Inspire people to discover their God given talents and develop their potential through artistic, educational, physical, and spiritual experiences in a Christ-centered atmosphere.


    Summary/Primary Purpose: The Camp Kroc Counselor is responsible for providing leadership and monitoring of winter and spring break day camp activities at The Salvation Army Kroc Center. Included are the ongoing supervision, equipment care, and promotion of all programs related to Camp Kroc.


    Work Schedule:  Seasonal, May through August, Fulltime 8a-5p, Monday through Friday.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Cheerfully provide service, leadership and mentoring to all day camp children, guests, staff and volunteers of all ages, ethnicity and backgrounds.
    2. Proactively ensure a safe and clean environment for all day camp staff, volunteers, members and participants.
    3. Provide leadership and monitor activities provided by the day camp program including programming in all areas (i.e. gym, sports fields, pools, game room, class rooms, resource room, theater, festival plaza, etc.)
    4. Handle any behavior issues or modifications.
    5. Have authority to make classroom decisions, including curriculum.
    6. Responsible for any parent reporting.
    7. Provide additional support to the program staff, instructors, interns and volunteers.
    8. Maintain good public relations for the day camp program at The Salvation Army Kroc Center.
    9. Participate in designated staff training and hold current C.P.R. and A.E.D. certifications.
    10. Attend all scheduled team meetings and staff meetings as directed by the Education Department.
    11. Schedule varies and can include evening and holiday hours.
    12. All other duties as assigned.


    Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A.


    Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and experience in working with children.


    Qualifications:  The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.


    1. Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
    2. Intermediate skills in Microsoft software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.  As well as the ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
    3. Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
    4. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.


    Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a TSA or personal vehicle on The Salvation Army business.


    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 30 days of hire as established by The Salvation Army.
