The Kitchen Assistant is a team member with the Director and Teaching Staff in working toward the overall mission, philosophy, and objectives of The Salvation Army. The Kitchen Assistant aids in providing an environment which fosters development of the whole child while meeting the needs of the parents by providing nutricious meals.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Certifications: Safe Serve certification within first year. State of Wisconsin driver’s license preferred.
Experience: Must have knowledge of proper and sanitary food handling, preparation, storage and safe use of kitchen equipment.
Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of requirements of the Child and Adult Care Food Program administered by the DPI preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee must have reliable transportation to move about service area and between Salvation Army locations. The employee must be able to stand up to 6 hours.
Travel: Occasional pick up of food items in the community
Working Conditions: Much of this job is performed indoors in normal room temperature conditions. When the duties require being outdoors, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
