    Manager-in-Training (MIT)

    The Salvation Army Family Store, located in downtown Fort Wayne, has an opportunity for someone who is looking to step into Management.  This is a part-time (29 Hours), entry-level position!

    The Mission of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center

    • Support management in all aspects of shift management.
    • Supervise employees to ensure compliance with directives and guidelines.
    • Open and close store as directed and provide coverage as needed.
    • Maintain both individual and shift sales.
    • Participate in the training of new personnel.
    • Bank cash receipts at end of business day and send deposit slips to Accounting.
    • Safeguard cash at all times in the absence of store management.
    • Attend monthly store staff meetings & support Managers in keeping personnel informed.
    • Assist with the unloading of trucks.
    • Report Safety hazards. Responsible for protection of personnel, property, and building in Manager's absence.
    • Report to management any detrimental behavior by store employees.
    • Be prepared for reassignment to other stores.
    • Support the mission statement of The Salvation Army.
    • Other duties as assigned.




    • Must be at least 18 years old.
    • High School graduate or GED.
    • Retail experience and some supervisory experience a plus.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents.
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and employees.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
    • Ability to operate a cash register/POS system.
    • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Must have a valid drivers license clear MVR.
