    POSITION TITLE:    Mentor - Celebration Launch and Landing Program

     

    LOCATION/DEPT:    Red Shield Center

     

    REPORTS TO:          Youth Sports and Ministry Coordinator

     

    FLSA CATEGORY:    Non-Exempt

     

    STATUS TYPE:        Flexible Part-Time

     

    DEPARTMENT MISSION

    To develop a Christ centered community based program to assist diverse groups of people with hurts, habits and hang ups.

     

    OUTCOMES

    As a result of participation in the Celebration Launch and Landing program individuals are able to develop stable and supportive relationships, are able to manage grief related to loss and trauma and be able to live drug and alcohol free.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Capable of multi-tasking. Will be responsible for mentoring several people.
    2.  Be able to refer people to other facilities for assistants other than The Red Shield Center.
    3.  Must have phone and be available for your Mentee to contact if needed.
    4. Active member of a church preferred.
    5. All other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
    • 1 year experience in working with community outreach based programs in a Christian setting.
    • An exposure to social services or faith based organizations is preferred.

    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • An attention to detail, procedures, processes and policies.
    • Ability to use initiative and to be a self-starter.
    • A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • This position is required to do light to moderate physical work and must be able to lift or move up to 50lbs.
    • In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use office equipment and including PC and gym equipment.
    • Must be able to work with clients that have poor social skills, suffer from mental illness, and have substance abuse problems.
