    Responsibilities

    Ensure that accurate accounting of the Property, Board Designated, Donor Restricted and Donor Endowment Funds are in accordance with GAAP and The Salvation Army (TSA) policies and procedures:

     

    • Review and approve check request and journal entries prepared by the Trust Accountant.
    • Prepare high-level check request and journal entries for the Trust Section.
    • Prepare and analyze reports for the Territorial Finance Committee (TFC).
    • Assist with monitoring debt financing.
    • Prepare and post accounting entries for split-interest agreements in legal files.
    • Liaison with Planned Giving regarding split-interest agreements.
    • Reconcile year-end split-interest agreements.
    • Assist with consolidated audit and year end closing procedures.
    • Assure special budgets/projects are aligned with leadership plans and monitor for proper approvals and authorized adequate complex funding resources.
    • Oversee tracking of Trust Account Earnings analysis.
    • Prepare year-end legal file review for audit liability.
    • Prepare and review audit schedules for trust and property funds.
    • Coordinate release of Territorial Headquarters (THQ) financial information to divisions/commands.
    • Oversee and approve posting of trust interest calculations; including administration of endowment spending policy.
    • Oversee the monitoring and funding of sick benefit trust accounts.
    • Oversee the review and processing of legal appropriation journals.
    • Prepare monthly and annual trust reports.
    • Cross-train with Assistant Controller.
    • Initiate and/or approve wire transfers.
    • Supervise the day to day activities of the trust section.

    Qualifications

     

     

    Education:

     

    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.

               

     

    Certification:

     

    CPA preferred but not required.

     

     

    Experience:

    • 5 years general Accounting experience
    • Supervisory or managerial role experience
    • Knowledge and understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
