  • Overview

    To assist the Corps in planning and implementing youth activities, building all youth related programs and maintaining a daily positive business office environment.

    Youth Specific

    • Plan and prepare and implement weekly lessons for character building
    • Teach a weekly lesson for Sunday School using age appropriate methods and curriculum applicable to youth
    • Find volunteers to assist with character building program and coordinate schedule
    • Ensure that all volunteers are Safe From Harm trained and follow all SFH guidelines
    • Pickup and drop-off kids on youth night and Sunday
    • Plan, promote and implement special events for youth outreach for the purpose of evangelism and to build attendance at youth activities and Sunday School
    • Must be available to work on Sunday
    • Responsible for planning and implementing the Back To School ice-cream social
    • Responsible for teaching other lessons such as Junior Soldiers, Corps Cadets and teen Bible study if applicable or secure other volunteers to lead
    • Coordinate and participate in weekly or bi-weekly college age fellowship activities and/or Bible Study, planning and implementing various activities for college students.


    • Ensure that new employees have all the resources needed to succeed in their job.
    • Responsible to see that all employees are trained in “Safe from Harm” procedures
    • Assist in the onboarding of all new employees
    • Maintain all program materials and equipment, assuring documentation is in order for tracking
    • Assist in schedule coordination of building rentals as well as program schedules
    • Assist in staffing Advisory Board meetings
    • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Corps Officers
    • Adheres to all organization practices, policies and procedures.


    Education: Associates Degree

    Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed. Findings may disqualify an individual for this position


    Experience: Two years of experience working with youth.


    Certifications: Must be, or moving toward, Soldiership/Adherancy, in The Salvation Army.

    Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver’s qualification standard.
    Must have a Safe from Harm Certificate


    Skills/Abilities: Ability to speak, write and understand English in a professional manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, staff and consumers. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

    Supervisory Responsibility: To oversee and instruct all volunteers in youth activities.
