    Visitors to The Salvation Army will be greeted in a compassionate, helpful, and efficient manner.   Incoming phone calls will be answered promptly and courteously striving to always give factual and relevant information. This position provides administrative support to the Corps Officer. Other duties will always be performed efficiently and accurately.




    1. Greet all visitors to The Salvation Army, referring them to the appropriate individual for assistance.
    2. Answer incoming telephone calls, providing information on external Salvation Army services, or transferring incoming calls to the appropriate staff member.
    3. Open, sort, and route incoming mail to staff on a daily basis.
    4. Stock and maintain literature racks in neat and orderly condition.
    5. Receive deliveries and route to appropriate staff member.
    6. Make referrals to other social service agencies when requested.


    1. Be responsible for the operation of the copier and fax machine. Assist in the copying and faxing of invoice vouchers for payment.
    2. Compose and type simple correspondence, as directed.
    3. May perform computer data entry, as directed.
    4. Assist with processing employee time in the payroll system (Paycor) including Christmas staff payroll.
    5. Files correspondence and other records.
    6. Prepare memo and weekly worship bulletins.
    7. Provide assistance in scheduling community service volunteers.
    8. Keep statistics and submit monthly reports to the Corps Officer.
    9. Maintain postage log book, SA minute book and policy and procedure manual.
    10. Assist with Christmas program and fundraising.
    11. Prepares and distributes agendas of staff or board meetings. May take minutes of meetings.


    1. Oversee the processing of revenue (receipting), accounts payable and ledgers. And deposits at bank.
    2. Prepare statements of Soldiers’ giving.
    3. Retrieve monthly Bank reconciliations online and forward same to Corps accountant at Divisional Headquarters.
    4. In concert with Corps Officers, prepare correspondence relating to financial and business matters.

    Human Resources:

    1. Maintain seasonal employee benefit and personnel records.
    2. Distribute benefit materials.
    3. Assist the Corps Officers with probation or termination issues as directed.
    4. Review hiring and termination packets for seasonal employees before sending to the Corps Officers for signature.
    5. Maintain a high standard of confidentiality and comply with Safe-From-Harm guidelines.

    All other duties as assigned.



    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • A minimum of one year’s experience in an office environment or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.


    • Knowledge of general office equipment and procedures, including a personal computer and the use of the Microsoft Office software applications.
    • Knowledge of the methods, techniques, materials, and equipment used in the operation of a business office.
    • Demonstrated ability to answer a multi-line phone system and receive and transfer phone calls through the phone system.
    • Demonstrated ability to create simple documents using the Microsoft Office suite software.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to use initiative and to be a self-starter.
    • An attention to detail.
    • A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations/ priorities.

    • This position is required to do light physical work and must be able to lift 10 pounds.
    • In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use office equipment and a PC. 
    • The work environment for this position includes an office environment with a low noise level.
