    Located in downtown Fort Wayne on Fairfield Ave., The Salvation Army Family Store is seeking qualified candidates to fill a Manager-in-Training (MIT) position.


    This is a part-time, entry-level management position (29 hours per week).

    All funds generated by The Salvation Family Stores fund The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center located on W. Washington Blvd.  This program provides spiritual regeneration to those struggling with substance abuse.

    • Assist in the Supervision of clerks in performance of duties to ensure compliance with directives and guidellines.
    • Assist with the training for new personnel.
    • Bank cash receipts at end of business day, send deposit slips to the accounting offfice each day.  Safeguard cash at all times in absence of manager.
    • Attend and assist with monthly store staff meetings to learn and keep personnel informed of new policies and directives.
    • Maintain good customer relations, as is expected of all staff.
    • Order merchandise and maintain accurate inventory of goods on hand, in absence of manager.
    • Report safety hazards.  Responsible for the protection of personnel, property, and building, in manager's absence.
    • Report to Manager any detrimental behavior by clerks.
    • Be prepared for reassignment to other stores at the direction of Supervisor.
    • Support the mission statement of The Salvation Army.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Administrator.




    • High school graduate or equivalent, experience in retail sales.
    • Abillity to read and interpret documents.
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and employees.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
    • Abiliity to operate a cash register/POS system.
    • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occassionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Must have a valid drivers license clear MVR.
