PURPOSE OF POSITION
Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Major Gifts department.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
A. Support the Major Gift Officers by handling Major Gift administrative support, research and resource acquisition.
B. Will accurately produce and maintain tracking on the Marketing Impact Chart for the Major Gifts Officers.
C. Will professionally handle correspondence coming in and out of the Major Gifts Department.
D. Will keep a record of secure appropriate project information, including budgets, and offers, proposals and asks that will be used for donor calls by the Major Gifts Officers including donor research.
E. Will perform other support functions as may be required including creating monthly reports, as required by management, which accurately reflect department activity and performance.
ACCOUNTABILITY – PERFOMANCE WILL BE MEASURED BY
A. Ability to handle donor correspondence in a professional and secure manner including timely gift receipts. Create and maintain individual donor files and secure internal and external resources for donor communication.
B. Ability to track donor information based on their giving and their potential.
C. Ability to assist Major Gifts Officers to allow them maximum time visiting with donors.
D. Ability to edit and send effective offers, proposals and ask correspondence to donors while working alongside the Major Gifts Officers.
E. Ability to maintain an accurate Marketing Impact Chart timely reports that reflect caseload performance. This will include assuring the integrity of donor financial data and analysis of donor giving.
F. Ability to track people, process, deadlines and organize the department while adhering to the policies and procedures of the organization.
G. Ability to keep the department organized and communicating effectively with major gift donors.
H. Ability to get along with peers, subordinates and management and maintain a positive and constructive attitude while solving problems. Ability to be a team player and protect the mission, goals and values of the organization. Willing to collaborate with planned giving and development administrative assistants regarding donor caseloads.
I. Ability to work directly and independently with local Salvation Army commanders, advisory boards, and committees to schedule meetings and handle situations that pertain to major gifts reporting.
J. Ability to understand and support the Major Gifts Officers with the approved major giving performance metrics established by The Veritus Group, the Territorial Executive Director of Development and approved by the Divisional Executive Director of Development.
K. Ability to handle expense reports and monitor the Major Gifts budget.
L. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all donor information.
M. The Major Gifts Administrative Assistant will devote his/her full time effort and energy to Major Giving responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
A. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
B. At least three years of Administrative experience.
C. Demonstrated record of handling calls, correspondence and internal operations.
D. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with emphasis on accuracy.
E. Excellent research and online search skills.
F. Strong problem solving, training and personal management skills. Must have initiative and have ability to follow through with little direct supervision.
G. Excellent organizational and time management skills required.
H. Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word computer software. Additional experience with Lotus Notes desirable.

This position reports to the Donor Relations Director. It will also work very closely with the other Major Gifts Officers.
