  • Overview

    The Salvation Army is now accepting applications for reliable and hardworking Drivers for Donation pick-ups.  No CDL Required.  However, you must be able to obtain a Class D License with a Box Truck Endorsement.  (It is a simple written test you can take daily until you pass, at no cost, followed by a driving test we will train for and provide the truck for the test.  

     

    This position is Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with some Saturday's, but usually very few.  We are never open on Sunday.  

     

    This position starts at $12.00 per hour with an increase to $14.00 per hour after passing a 90 day probationary period.

    Responsibilities

    Duties will include driving a box truck to pick-up and transport gently used donations, loading and unloading of trucks, instructing and supervising of driver’s helper.  

     

    You will follow a set route throughout Des Moines and the surrounding area using GPS mapping systems.  It is very easy to follow and a user friendly system.  

    Qualifications

    Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while keeping a positive attitude.  Clean driving record is essential to clear an MVR (Motor Vehicle Registry).  Once you clear MVR with The Salvation Army will assist candidate in obtaining appropriate endorsements.  A CDL license is not required or needed for this position.  

     

    You must be able to obtain a Class D License with a Class 2 Box Truck Endorsement.  (It is a simple written test you can take daily until you pass, at no cost, followed by a driving test we will train for and provide the truck for the test.)  

     

    Physical requirements of the position include standing, kneeling, crouching, stooping and lifting/pushing 50 – 100 lbs.

     

    Act as personal representative of The Salvation Army and ensure that all customers are treated courteously. Immediately report any problem in pick-ups to immediate supervisor through the dispatch office.
