    Summary/Primary Purpose:  To checkout customers, accept and sort donations from donors, and stock items for purchase in the Thrift Store.


    Schedule: Part-time; Monday-Friday 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM & Every Other Saturday 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the position.
    2. Responsible for working at the Cash Register.
    3. Will sort and price clothes and bric-a-brac.
    4. Will help to maintain an organized and clean store.
    5. Will vacuum, clean, and organize the store as needed.
    6. Responsible to assist in creating a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintain good customer relationships.
    7. Be well versed in, and ensure compliance to, all established Salvation Army Family Store and Donation Center policies and procedures, by all store personnel.
    8. Responsible to make sure that the store is well stocked and all merchandise is rotated and organized in accordance with Salvation Army policy.
    9. Responsible for the proper accounting and banking of cash receipts at end of business day. Safeguard cash at all times.
    10. Ensure that all paper work and sales reports are filled out completely and will open/close the store when needed.
    11. Responsible for protection of property and buildings. Report safety hazards, property damage and personal injuries to Administrator, Store Supervisor, or designate.
    12. Comply with the established standards, policies, and procedures of The Salvation Army.
    13. All other duties as assigned.


    Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A


    Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Prefer at least 6 months related experience in a retail environment.


    Qualifications:  The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.


    1. Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
    2. Intermediate skills in Microsoft software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. As well as the ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
    3. Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key, attention to details and filing.
    4. Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
    5. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, and to operate cash register.


    Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.

    Physical Requirements:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Be able to lift 15-25 pounds regularly and 50+ pounds occasionally.  Standing is required a majority of the time with sitting being rare outside of breaks. Close, distance, color and peripheral vision are needed.
