Individual must prepare meals for Community Soup Kitchen and Special Events as needed. Individual will oversee the responsibilities of Community Services Workers and Volunteers.
Education: Must have high school diploma or equivalent; must relate to individuals in a warm, understanding, and empathic nature without prejudice to the demographics of the homeless population.
Experience: Individual must have 1 year experience in meal preparation for large quantity of people and have food sanitation license from the Department of Health. Individual must be able to pass background check. Also, individual must be willing to become familiar and supportive of The Salvation Army mission and purpose of operation.
Physical Demands/ Work Environment:This Position is required to do moderate to strenuous physical work. In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the individual is regularly required to lift 25+ pounds, bend twist, carry, sit and stand for extended time periods. Specific vision abilities by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to focus. The work environment for this position includes an environment with a high noise level. Individual must be able to work with clients that have poor social skills, suffer from mental illness, and have substance abuse problems.
