    Daily Operations

    • Answer incoming phone calls and greet incoming staff, clients and visitor. 
    • Provide clients and visitor with information and directions as needed. 
    • Sign for packages and deliver to the appropriate areas.
    • Perform building rounds: checking doors, halls, floors, fire alarms and exterior areas of the building on a regular basis or as requested.
    • Respond to building emergencies and assist in resolving disputes within facility as need or required.
    • Provide escorts to staff and visitors as needed.
    • Ensure that no unauthorized vehicles are parked in the Harbor Light parking lot(s).
    • Document and report any and all incidents that occur that you are witness to or participated in.
    • Enforce Harbor Light Center rules and report infractions to team lead.
    • Maintain cleanliness of work area and front lobby.
    • Maintain any and all log books pertaining to security.
    • Learn and follow Safety Management Plan. 


    • Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with co-workers and supervisors.  This would include, but not limited to such actions: conflict resolution in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors and clients; respect of others property and person and appropriate communication to and about co-workers and supervisors.
    • Support the mission of The Harbor Light Center by treating every client and colleague with   individual respect and dignity.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned or at management requests.




    Must personally embrace The Salvation Army Harbor Light Mission.  High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum one (1) year experience working with people, preferably in a homeless shelter or other client/customer focused environment, with no criminal conviction within the last seven years.  Must be familiar with standard concepts practices and procedures within the security field. One year practical work experience in the security field preferred.  Valid MN Drivers license with no restrictions preferred. Computer literate, with familiarity in Windows based word processing and email applications.  Possess an aptitude in both writing and oral communications.  Ability to lift and exert up to 75 pounds. Must be trustworthy, especially in confidential matters.   Must document two years freedom from chemical use problems, if chemically dependent.  Must be able to pass background checks, including a MVR if driving required and pre-employment drug test.   It must be understood by the incumbent that the provisions of Safe From Harm will apply upon commencement of employment, and also understood that the required Safe From Harm training program must be satisfactorily completed within the first 30 days of employment.
