    The Salvation Army corps located in Springfield, Missouri, is looking for a part-time Summer Day Camp Counselor/Community Center Program Aide.  This position comes with benefits such as paid holidays, vacation time, sick time, and is eligible for participation in the company funded pension plan.  Starting pay will be $8.00 an hour.


    The normal work schedule for this position will be:

    During the summer camp progam the hours will be as needed Monday-Friday 7:00am to 7:00pm
    During the school year the after school program will be open from 3:00pm to 7:00pm.


    This position will assist in after school, day camp programs and church nursery. Must maintain and exhibit willingness to assist in carrying out The Salvation Army mission. Enjoy working with children, be a good tutor and perform some cleaning duties as needed in program areas. Position is expected to comply with and meet The Salvation Army, Federal, State and Local policies and standards.


    1.  Supervise members and visitors during activities in the community center.
    2.  Enforce rules as necessary.
    3.  Supervise and participate in all facets of these programs, e.g., recreation, snacks, crafts, field trips, etc.
    4.  When necessary, mediate disputes among participants, being sensitive to needs of all parties.
    5.  Tutor children on their homework.
    6.  Clean eating, work and play areas before and after activities.

    Qualifications: Previous work with youth activities is desirable. Good communication skills. Able to read and write well. Requires basic verbal communications with children and other employees. Valid drivers' license and pass TSA MVR is a plus. Within 90 days of employment must be certified by American Red Cross (ARC) in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid. Must complete Safe From Harm Training, a TB Skin Test, an annual physical, Family Care Safety Registry Screening, & obtain a Class E License.
