The Salvation Army Center of Hope Homeless Shelter located in Jefferson City, Missouri, is looking for three part-time Shelter Monitors.  One position will work 16 hours per week, one position will work 8 hours per week, and one will be a flexible, on call position to cover planned and unplanned absences of other monitors.  These positions, while without financial fringe benefits, abound in personal rewards of meeting human needs for those struggling with homelessness and growing experience in the social services field. These low hour positions are the pool from which we fill our 24 hour monitor positions which do come with employee (financial) fringe benefits. Starting pay for these positions is $9.00 an hour. This facility operates around the clock, 365 days a year. Availability and willingness to work evenings, overnights and/or weekends is an essential feature of a successful candidate for these open positions.

Maintain shelter security, perform clerical duties, handle receptionist duties, and provide general assistance to guests and residents in the shelter. Record statistics.  Maintain hourly log of activities.  Thank you letter preparation as directed.  Data entry into client database if trained and registered as an approved user of data base.

Full Job Description will be provided upon request and/or interview.

High school or equivalent diploma with one year of experience working in social service agency or two years work experience without a diploma.  Higher education in psychology, social work, criminal justice or other related field is a plus.  Must be a team player, a self-starter, and perform well with minimum supervision.  Good communication skills are essential, as well as an ability to work with diverse cultures.  Computer skills are necessary.
