  • Overview

    Recruits, schedules, organizes and directs volunteers for the Salvation Army of the Fox Cities. Coordinate Christmas Kettle Campaign and Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) team.

    The responsibilities listed below identify the essential requirements of the position. Other job related responsibilities and tasks may be assigned as needed. 


    General Responsibilities: 

    • Develops and implements a system to actively recruit, screen, orient and provide supervision for volunteers within the various Corps programs. 
    • Works with staff to determine volunteer needs. 
    • Maintain, and analyze monthly records/statistics for trends, future planning.
    • Coordinates Community Service Program through participating agencies. 
    • Complete Safe from Harm training and become a Safe from Harm trainer. 
    • Presentations to businesses, schools, churches, etc. to secure volunteers. 
    • Works with area media, as directed, to recruit volunteers. 
    • Coordinates and facilitates Annual Volunteer Recognition programs. 
    • Coordinates volunteers for after hour activities (e.g. food drives, nursing home visits) 

    Kettle Campaign Responsibilities: 

    • Recruits and schedules volunteer groups from local organizations and businesses to ring bells for the Kettle Campaign. 
    • Maintains online database (
    • Hire and provide supervision for seasonal kettle campaign staff. 
    • Solicits /confirms sites for Christmas Kettle Campaign in conjunction with Development Director. 
    • Coordinates with kettle drivers to arrange set-up of equipment and pick-up of kettles. 
    • Maintains all forms and documents relating to volunteers and related projects. 

    Emergency Disaster Services: 

    • Oversees operation of EDS canteen, and canteen operators. 
    • Supervises operation of EDS office, including maintain supplies and coordination of EDS events. 
    • Coordinates., schedules, and participates in EDS training classes for the Fox Cities Command area, involving nearby Corps and Service Extension participate. 
    • Serves as liaison between IC, Food Services and Social Services, as well as Divisional EDS. 


    The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and abilities required for this position. 


    Education: Minimum: Bachelor's Degree 


    Experience: Three years' related experience preferred Or a combination  of education and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities. 


    Certifications: Valid Wisconsin Driver;s license and approval to drive through The Salvation Army's insurance carrier. Membership or certification with a professional volunteer organization preferred. 



    • Work well with various age and socio-economic groups. Respect and honor cultural and human diversity. 
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, including public speaking. 
    • Strong skills in planning, organization and time management. 
    • Understanding and appreciation of the role of volunteers. 
    • Ability to uphold the Christian standards and ministries of The Salvation Army in all areas of job responsibilities. 
    • Possess a high level of self-motivation, creativity, delegation, group leadership skills in a spirit of cooperation and Christian service. 
    • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Internet, email and database knowledge. 
    • Familiarity with businesses and civic organizations. 

    Supervisory Responsibility: Volunteers, seasonal employees for Christmas Kettle Campaign.

    Travel: May require occasional out of town and overnight travel for training events. 


    Working Conditions: 

    This job is typically performed in an office or other indoor environment at normal room temperature. The noise level in this work environment is usually low. 


    For EDS, duties of this job, such as special events and disasters, the employee may be exposed to extreme weather conditions. The noise level in these situations is usually moderate to loud.
