    The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center Purpose Statement: The purpose of the Salvation Army Kroc Center is to inspire people to discover their God-given talents and develop their potential through artistic, educational, physical, and spiritual experiences in a Christ-centered atmosphere.

     

    Summary/Primary Purpose: The Senior Life Specialist implements and coordinates healthy aging programs throughout the Kroc Center, including but not limited to, specialized senior wellness/fitness programming, arts/music programming, educational programming, and faith-based programming.

     

    Work Schedule:  Fulltime/Exempt; flexible however weekday morning hours are essential and Sundays as needed.

    Responsibilities

    1. Develop a comprehensive strategy to integrate a broad array of senior programming across program departments that is consistent with the mission of TSA and the Kroc Center
    2. In cooperation with various program department staff, schedule, develop curriculum, and implement senior programming throughout the center
    3. Track outcomes and evaluate effectiveness and sustainability of senior programming using approved systems and processes
    4. Ensure that all senior programming meets or exceeds expectations contained in the Kroc Center Standards
    5. Train and manage volunteers to assist with the delivery of senior programming
    6. Meet and communicate with local partnering organizations and community partners as directed by the Program Director
    7. Work with the Membership and Business Department to coordinate the recruitment and retention of senior members and guests, especially through third-party senior wellness incentive programs
    8. Order all materials related to senior life programming (including marketing and promotional materials from appropriate resources) and make purchase recommendations as appropriate
    9. Create and analyze reports, providing program results to leadership and fundraising staff
    10. Assist with the development of grant proposals for relevant programming as needed
    11. All other duties as assigned.

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will be responsible for supervising volunteers as needed.

    Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience: A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. Experience in administration and/or coordination of programs in a nonprofit setting is preferred.

     

    Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

     

    • Experience with senior programming or ministry
    • Must be familiar with the programs/services for active mature adults
    • Must have flexibility with schedule to be able to commit to be present for senior life programming
    • Must be able to train and coordinate other staff and volunteers
    • Experience with grant writing and administration
    • General computer knowledge is required to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.

     

    Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.

     

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.

     

    Physical Requirements:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical requirements include: good speaking, hearing and vision ability and excellent manual dexterity. This position will required the ability to lift and/or move more than 25 pounds occasionally.

     

    Working Conditions: This position works throughout a community center in which the noise level in the work environment is moderate to high depending on the number of members using the facility. In addition, portions of the primary work facility may be considered cooler, humid, warm (Aquatic Center and outside facility) while other locations (Gymnasium) may be considered moderately loud in nature.
