  • Overview



    The Facilities Manager shall be responsible for managing the work functions of maintenance, janitorial, security, and other facility services.  He/She shall make sure all of the Center’s facilities complies with local, state and federal agency health and safety requirements, and ensures the needs of the organization, employees, and/or visitors are met.


    • Ensure all buildings are maintained on a daily basis by completing daily inspections and communicating with Administration to guarantee everything is running smoothly and in operating order.
    • Create and manage a suitable environment for the purpose and needs of the buildings, such as day-to-day maintenance, upgrades, and managing said systems.
    • Responsible for using best business practices to manage and reduce costs, to include developing and managing vendor contracts.
    • Create a budget for various building needs and expenses, and compare costs for various services and goods, including choosing the best options for the buildings.
    • Manage the maintenance of the buildings by performing repairs or contracting maintenance services as needed.
    • Track building upkeep as well as anticipated long and short-term improvements and maintenance, such as identifying potential issues before they occur and resolving issues as quickly as possible.
    • Ensure the security of the buildings, including exterior such as parking lots and surrounding parameters, by researching and implementing various security measures.
    • Implement effective security management policies and act as the first point of contact regarding such.
    • Prepare, implement and maintain disaster recovery plans for all locations.
    • Train all key staff and management regarding best security practices.
    • Responsible for overseeing that surrounding grounds are properly cared for and landscaped.
    • Interview and hire certain facility employees, such as maintenance staff, janitorial staff, security staff and/or services.
    • Handle certain administrative tasks, such as preparing reports for Administration.
    • Respond to emergency situations or other urgent matters involving the buildings, and being able to initiate a contingency plan when these situations occur.
    • Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the Center’s Administrator.
    • Support the mission statement of The Salvation Army.


    Required Education, Certifications and Experience:

    • Must have the training, experience, and ability to ensure all physical operations of the buildings are maintained.
    • Must have knowledge of construction fundamentals, environmental controls, energy management, technology and facility planning.
    • Must have problem-solving and analytical skills, communication and business management skills, time management and multi-tasking skills, familiarity with building upkeep, and must meet any additional qualifications as set by the Center’s Administrator.
