  • Overview

    Conduct intake interviews, monitor resident activities, monitor security. Administer breathalyzer/drug test when client's behavior appears to warrant such. Answer phone and direct calls. Maintain records and log incidents that may need communicating to other staff. 

    Responsibilities

    1. Conduct intake interview, checking ID's and complete paperwork. Check criminal and sexual offense backgrounds for new intakes. 
    2. Monitor who is in the shelter, meet the needs of visitors to the shelter and maintain control of entry. 
    3. Handle donations when the remainder of facilities is closed. 
    4. Address issues that may lead to safety concerns. 
    5. Interact with clients, assisting them with making proper choices when needed. 
    6. Monitor completion of client's chores. 
    7. Keep house laundry and dishes clean and in order. 
    8. Document client concerns, issues, or discussions in Advance Diary and Service Point. 
    9. Notify police when there is a safety risk. 
    10. Document client savings.
    11. Document medications. 
    12. Ensure food, toiletries, janitorial supplies, and other needed items are brought over from Family Service building and notify Administrative staff of supply needs. 
    13. Maintain confidentiality of all clients. 
    14. Maintain communication with Case Manager and Shelter Manager. 

    Relationships: Relay messages and schedules to fellow staff. Communicate needs with the Shelter Manager. Maintain a professional relationship with all clients and former clients. Respond to inquires from Corps Officers. 

     

    Supervision Received: Directly supervised by the Shelter Manager. 

     

    Supervision Of Others: Supervision of clients.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience/Skills/Requirements: 

    1. Be able to work within the mission of The Salvation Army. 
    2. High School completed. 
    3. Education in the field of Human Services helpful. 
    4. Mature level of understanding. 
    5. Experience with a variety of personalities and various ethnic backgrounds will add to the success of this job. 
    6. Be willing to advance knowledge by schooling or reading. 

    This is a 2nd shift position- 32 hours per week and occasionally 40 hours per week.
