    POSITION TITLE:                   Program Aide

     

    LOCATION/DEPT:                  Blue Island-Crossgenerations

     

    REPORTS TO:                        Program Director

     

    FLSA CATEGORY:               Non-Exempt

     

    STATUS TYPE:                     Flexible Part-Time

     

     

    OUTCOMES

    The Program Aide provides necessary support for building and program preparation, opening, closing and security for groups using the facility.

    Responsibilities

     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    1. Administrative
      1. Provide support to ensure a safe and stimulating active environment.
      2. Assist in the planning and preparation for daily activities.
      3. Assist instructors in preparing lesson outlines, plans and curricula in assigned areas.
      4. Plans, prepares and develops various teaching aids, including activity sheets, drawings and similar hand-outs.
      5. Lead athletic activities; and helps oversee gym, fitness center, and teen center.
      6. Assist children or adults, individually or in groups with fitness related questions or problems.
      7. Take attendance, make copies, and provide teaching to different programs as needed. 
    1. Maintenance and Safety
      1. Patrol locker rooms and other areas to ensure safety regulations are maintained.
      2. Provide oversight and guidance during open gym hours.
      3. Perform light cleaning and helps to maintain the cleanliness of assigned areas. Cleaning may consist of mopping, sweeping wiping and vacuuming. 
    1. Provide assistance as needed with special events, angel tree and red kettle campaign.
    2. Serve meals or snacks per program needs.
    3. Assist with multimedia or audio as needed.
    4. Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Previous sports ministry experience or work with youth preferred.
    • Athletics, fitness or programming experience preferred.
    • Building supervision or educational background preferred.
    • CPR/AED/First Aid certified.
    • Valid Driver’s License/MVR clearance

    • Able to work weekends and evenings (flex time).

                                      

    POSITION LIMITATIONS (What this position must do)

    • This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
    • This individual will keep the Program Director informed on all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility.
    • This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • This position is required to do light to heavy physical work and must be able to lift 50 pounds.
    • In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use standard janitorial and community center equipment.
    • The work environment includes an office and community center with a low to high noise.
