Responsibilities

Responding to applicants for Energy Assistance Services by phone to determine the primary need and urgency of the presenting energy related need.

Provide comprehensive assessments for Energy Assistance Services (EAS) [utilizing the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) Call Point].

Assist with energy information, referrals, and appointment scheduling with the goal of mediating energy crises and supporting energy account management

Qualifications

 

Education:  A Bachelor of Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Human Services degree or related field preferred.  Basic understanding of issues facing people in poverty and crises with a commitment and desire to assist individuals and families achieve stability and independence. Proven communication and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to interact positively with individuals, colleagues and collateral agencies. Bilingual persons encouraged to apply.

 

Experience:  At least one year experience in social work or social service field desired.  Call center experience desired.  Experience working with low-income populations preferred.       

 

Skills:  Skilled in interviewing clients / customers and in assessing social service cases.  Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.  Effective oral and written communication skills.  Computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
