  • 18 years of age or older, with one year of post high school experience preferred
  • Christian exhibiting the principles of Christian living

 General Responsibility:  To supervise, identify and meet camper needs while carrying out the camp program.

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Build a relationship and establish a rapport with each camper assigned to you.
  2. Recognize and respond to opportunities for problem solving in the group.
  3. Provide opportunities for the group so that each individual experiences success during camp.
  4. Provide opportunities for discussion of individual or group problems or concerns.
  5. Guide cabin and individual campers in participating successfully in all aspects of camp activities.
  6. Carry out established roles for supervising camper health
  7. Carry out established roles in enforcing camp safety regulations.
  8. Supervise all assigned aspects of campers’ day including but not limited to:- Daily devotions, morning reveille, cabin clean-up, meal times, rest hour, evening activities, getting ready for bed.
  9. Instruct campers in emergency procedures such as fire drills, tornado alarm, etc.
  10. Assist in teaching or leading an activity, as assigned.
  11. Set a good example for campers and others including cleanliness, punctuality, sharing clean up and chores, sportsmanship, and table manners.
  12. Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment, and facilities.
  13. Assist in checking in and checking out each camper.
  14. Responsible for health, safety and general well fair of all campers under your care.
  15. Have campers report to all assigned activities on time.
  16. Arrive to all meetings and assigned activities on time.
  17. Attend and participate in all assigned camp activities and programs.
  18. Assist in restoring camp facilities and grounds to order at the conclusion of each camp session, and prepare set-ups for the next camp session.
  19. Attend all training meetings and staff devotions.
  20. Complete documentation for each camper. Write a letter to both them and their parents/guardians on the last day of camp.
  21. These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required.

 

Qualifications

Essential Functions

Must be able to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques; identify and respond to hazards; work with different age and skill levels; plan and conduct activities; physical ability to assist campers in emergency (fire, severe weather, evacuation, illness, or injury); and posses strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of children in an outdoor camp environment.
