POSITION/TITLE:  Logistics Coordinator


PAY RATE: $15/Hour


LOCATION/DEPT:  Emergency Disaster Services





Maintain all EDS vehicles and facility property, including the day-to-day operational care of all vehicles, facility equipment , and general facility upkeep.




  1. Manage all EDS vehicles and equipment.
    • Ensure that all EDS vehicles are appropriately maintained in keeping with an on-going preventive maintenance program. This includes:
      • Scheduling all appointments for vehicle maintenance and repairs.
      • Managing a vehicle profile identifying all pertinent vehicle records regarding service, repairs, etc.
      • Maintaining an emergency response plan for vehicles in the field that may become inoperable.
    • Institute and manage an active inventory of EDS equipment, including repair and maintenance records.
    • Comply with all required DOT regulations related to all EDS vehicles.
    • Assist in providing on-going training for rehab, response teams, and vehicle operations to ensure that all team members are fully knowledgeable in the operation of each vehicle and specialized rehab equipment.
  1. In conjunction with the Facility Coordinator, manage the day time activities of the EDS facility to ensure it is ready for full activation during a major disaster event.
  1. Secure appropriate bids, as recommended by the Facility Coordinator, for any facility repairs according to Salvation Army procedures.
  1. Maintain EDS facility property on a regularly scheduled basis.
    • During day time schedule. monitor property and systems (including electrical, structural, plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC) and maintain on a regularly scheduled basis. Report any non-emergency problem to Facility Coordinator. Report emergency issues to the Director or Assistant Director.
    • Maintain grounds in summer on scheduled basis.
    • Oversee day time snow removal in winter per city ordinances and work requirements.
  1. After hour call outs
    • Provide call out response back up during the day if necessary.
    • Participate in a backup schedule responding to after hour canteen call outs when no volunteers are available.
  1. Scheduled special events
    • Assist in the receiving of all scheduled product at the EDS facility.
    • Participate in scheduled special duties as approved by the EDS director.
    • Assist with regularly scheduled training program at EDS headquarters.
  1. Statistical reporting
    • Maintain an accurate account of vehicle and equipment maintenance records.
  1. Activation of Divisional Incident Command System
    • In the event of a major disaster, must be willing to deploy if necessary.
    • Upon the activation of the Incident Command System, assist with logistics operations within the Incident Command System.
    • Supervise additional volunteers assigned to this function.
    • Manage expanded logistics operations specifically in the area of coordinating vehicle, equipment, and supply activities.Manage expanded logistics and communication as assigned.
    • Assist in special duty coordination.
  1. Complete any additional assignments as assigned or needed by Director.
    • Assist with other department duties as needed and assigned.



  • A high school diploma or equivalent experience
  • Certified fork-lift operator
  • Class C or CDL license
  • 2 to 5 years experience maintaining properties, including a good general knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry and HVAC
  • 2 years of EDS or canteen management experience

This position is required to do physical work.  In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move product up to 100 lbs; drive a truck and other EDS vehicles; operate a fork lift and similar warehouse equipment; sit for lengthy periods of time; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is required to walk, stoop, kneel or crouch and frequently required to reach with and use arms and hands, as required in using facility tools and equipment, as well as standard office equipment and a PC. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to focus.  The work environment for this position includes an office and warehouse environment with an average noise level and varying seasonal temperatures.
