Looking for a place where “Doing the Most Good” is a mission! The Salvation Army has a Territorial Headquarters Program/Character Building Director position available for the ideal candidate!

 

This individual will be responsible for the development, promotion, resourcing and administration of programming for character building ministries, programs. and to discover and develop new initiatives.

Responsibilities

Some Essential Job Duties:

 

LEADERSHIP OF CHARACTER BUILDING PROGRAMS

 

  • Provide specific oversight and services through divisional headquarters of all Character Building programs (Moonbeams, Sunbeams, Explorers, Girl Guards, Rangers) in the USA Central Territory and represent The Salvation Army in local, regional, territorial or national events and committees which are related to the specific ministry responsibilities of this position.
  • Provide training and leadership support for Divisional Character Building Directors and assist and resource divisions and corps to develop, promote, and implement training for leaders of Character Building programs.
  • Coordinate and supervise Character Building troop/program registrations and process higher level awards. Monitor membership and attendance statistical trends, compile territorial reports, prepare higher awards, special recognitions and all other related details.D
  • Be knowledgeable with and support The Salvation Army’s child safety program Safe from Harm and be familiar with Boy Scouts programming to oversee territorial troops and act as liaison with BSA representatives.

 

PROGRAM AND RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

 

  • Serve as a central resource person for the development of guidelines; special event materials; program aids, specifications, and standards; and resources for addressing situations relating to character building ministries;
  • Design, prepare and distribute promotional literature and other informational materials related to character building ministries programs;
  • Develop, write, produce and distribute unique Bible-based mentoring and discipleship program components for use within character building ministry programs that can be implemented through the territorial website

 

DIRECT MINISTRY TO GIRLS AND BOYS

 

  • Provide direct ministry to program participants, their parents and leaders through platform and personal ministries (preaching, teaching, Bible studies, etc.) 
  • Offer personal discipling guidance for individuals involved in character building programs, including seeker counseling and follow-up to mentor and disciple these seekers.
  • Integrate a sense of personal evangelism in all interactions with the field and fellow workers throughout The Salvation Army. A deep personal passion for the lost will help manifest the foundational mission behind all of these character building ministries.

Qualifications


Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Psychology, Education, Christian Ministries, or a related field: and/or commissioning from the College for Officer Training and/or equivalent combination of education, training or experience.

 

Experience:
Have a minimum of three years of experience developing programming and ministry resources, strategies, materials.
Have experience in planning and directing specific youth events and or other programs.
