The Social Services Case Worker functions as the Case Worker of The Salvation Army Lansing South Corps.  This includes oversight of daily social services operation, community collaborations, development of future programs, statistical and program reporting, monitoring of program funding and reporting requirements, as well as providing direct services to clients.

Qualifications

Education:  Baccalaureate degree required.  Degree in social work, sociology, psychology, or related field from an accredited college or university strongly desired. An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional work experience that provides for the same skills and abilities may be considered.

 

Experience:  A minimum of one year in social work or social service experience required, two or more years preferred.  Minimum one year experience in a direct supervisory role required.  Experience working with low-income populations preferred. 

 

Skills:  Skilled in effective communication including interviewing, good listening, speaking and writing, compassion and empathy.  Must have good time management and organizational skills. Ability to assess social service cases and problem solve.  Must have the ability to think critically and clearly about situations and find solutions.  Must have the ability to work collaboratively in a team and to make decisions independently based on agency policy and procedure. Computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Computer proficiency with SIMS (ServicePoint™) client software required within 90 days.
