Overview

Primary objective is to safely pick-up and deliver donated or purchased food, and other program related items/materials and deliver to appropriate location. This position will also provide support to the operation of the food pantry as needed and time allows. 

Responsibilities

  • Using agency vans or cube truck, pick-up and deliver food items to Salvation Army Rock County Food Pantries. 
  • Maintain accurate records for all donation pick-ups/deliveries. If needed, provide gift-in-kind receipts. 
  • Load/unload vehicles as needed. 
  • Assist in food pantry with moving, storing, and organizing product, as directed. 
  • Assist in food pantry with distribution as required. 
  • Maintain a positive attitude and communicate in a professional manner that fosters good relationships with donors, supervisors, co-workers, and volunteers. 
  • Assists in the drop off and pickup of fleet vehicles for scheduled maintenance and ensures vehicles are fueled up. 
  • May perform specific pickup and delivery tasks for Rock County Social Services to support seasonal events such as Coats for Kids, Toys for Tots, Red Kettle Campaign, and the Christmas and Thanksgiving programs. 

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position. 

 

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent 

 

Certifications: 

Valid Wisconsin Driver's license, with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army's insurance carrier. 

 

Skills: 

  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions. 
  • Ability to efficiently organize routes.
  • Ability to operate pallet jack. 
  • Maintain a positive attitude and communicate in a professional manner that fosters good relationships. 

Supervisory Responsibility: 

May train and provide oversight of assigns volunteers assisting with pickup and deliveries.

Must be capable of lifting 50-75 pounds, and moving 100 pounds or more using a dolly/cart/truck. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 

 

Travel: 

All travel will be completed during a single work day and will not require overnight travel.

The duties of this job will be primarily performed indoors and in a moving vehicle under normal room temperatures, however while performing these duties, the employee will experience exposure to outdoor weather and road conditions prevalent at the time.
