Job Summary:
The Christmas Intake Worker is responsible for taking applications and settings appointments for toy shop. Individual must demonstrate honesty and integrity in performing duties and working with the vulnerable population. Shows initiative and is able to think independently. Also, individual must be willing to become familiar and supportive of The Salvation Army mission and purpose of operation.


  • Takes applications, sets appointments for toy shop, invites teens to teen party and instructs volunteers. 
  • The employee will be responsible to check-in all toy shop appointments. 
  • The employee is responsible for "Coats for Kids" Program.
  • The employee will prepare forms, appointment books, and other need­ed materials for the season. 
  • The employee processes the applications for all the programs and supervises mailing notices to basket recipi­ents. 
  • The employee is responsible for inventory and storage of all remaining Christmas supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education: Individual must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Associate Degree preferred possesses an intermediate level of proficiency work with computer and Microsoft Office Suite. Individual must maintain client confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.


Experience: The individual must demonstrate honesty and integrity while working independently without direct supervision. The individual must have the ability to relate to people in a warm, understanding, and empathic nature without prejudice to the demographics of the homeless population. Individual must be able to pass background check. Also, individual must be willing to become familiar and supportive of The Salvation Army mission and purpose of operation.


Physical Demands/ Work Environment: This Position is required to do light to moderate physical work. In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the individual is regularly required to remain stationary for some periods of time, use hands and fingers, communicate, move, occasionally required to position self to stoop, kneel or crouch, frequently required to reach with and use arms and hands as required in using standard office equipment and a PC. Specific vision abilities by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to focus. Individual must be able to work with clients that have poor social skills, suffer from mental illness, and have substance abuse problems. The work environment for this position includes an office environment with a low to moderate noise level.
