Overview

This weekend position will provide supervision of residents and property of the Emergency Lodge to ensure a safe environment for all residents.

Lead Emergency Lodge Attendant functions: 

  • Maintain client records with the Case Manager. 
  • Conduct Service Point data entry and monitor input by the other staff to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Work with clients to meet general needs by providing and supervising the use of bus tokens, gas vouchers and clothing vouchers in coordination with the Case Manager.
  • Work closely with Case Managers to be aware of any serious client issues. 
  • Assist in scheduling and training emergency lodge staff. 
  • Address the spiritual needs of the residents as a result of intake interviews and daily contract and make referrals to the Corps Officers. 
  • Monitor all Emergency Lodge operations and take appropriate action to facilitate efficient operation. This includes staffing, proposing policy and procedure changes, maintenance, housekeeping and food service. 
  • Be available for Emergency Lodge emergency and staff issues. 
  • Schedule staff to fill vacancies when they occur. 
  • Conduct and evaluate resident TB risk assessment when needed. 
  • Lead the EL resident meeting when needed. 
  • Educate staff on the EL policy and procedure manual and follow all stated policies and procedures. 
  • Keep track of supplies and help in menu planning for the shelter. 
  • Monitor duties log book and hold staff accountable when needed. 

Emergency Lodge Attendant functions: 

  • Maintain a log of significant events that occurred on your shift and share with on-coming staff. 
  • Answer the phone, doorbell, and take messages or necessary action. 
  • Maintain a log of medication doses administered for residents in the lodge during your shift. 
  • Perform intake duties with new residents and orientation on policies and procedures. 
  • Follow policies and procedures manual for all documentation including injuries and incidents. Keep Senior Lead Lodge Attendant informed of emergencies. 
  • Make sure rooms are ready for immediate occupancy. 
  • Conduct surveillance throughout the facility to ensure safety and compliance with rules and policies. 
  • Prepare breakfast, bag lunches, or dinner depending on the shift, per meal plan. 
  • Provide supervision of dining area during mealtimes. 
  • Notify Senior Lead Lodge Attendant about needed food or other supplies. 
  • Supervise residents in completing daily assigned chores. 
  • Perform general cleaning duties as assigned chores. 
  • Perform general cleaning duties as assigned per shift. 
  • Conduct urinalysis and breathalyzer tests as directed. 
  • Monitor residents' laundry room. 
  • Provide statistical reports as required for your shift. 
  • Perform discharge procedure for residents. 
  • Participate in training programs and staff meetings at the supervisor's direction. 
  • Note any damage or dysfunction of equipment in log. 
  • Mandatory staff meeting attendance. 
  • Other duties as appropriate and assigned for this position. 

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position. 

 

Education: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree in Human Services preferred. 

Certifications: 

  • Food Safety Certification (Safe Serve)

Experience: 

  • Two years of experience in Social Services or related field preferred. 
  • Experience in food handling and working with people preferred. 
  • Supervisory experience preferred. 

Skills:

  • Knowledge of:
    • Public and private social services providers within the community and community resources and programs available.
    • De-escalation and crisis intervention techniques. 
    • Computer applications related to the work including strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, web-based programs and e-mail. Possess or obtain working knowledge of Service Point. 
    • Record keeping principles and practices; correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation. 
    • Techniques for sealing with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, in person and over the telephone. 
    • Safe from Harm training. 
  • Ability to:
    • Clearly and effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing. 
    • Maintain confidentiality is required. 
    • Communicate new resident information to the Emergency Lodge Case Manager.  
    • Exhibit good interpersonal skills. 
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. 
    • Use a variety of office equipment including a computer, telephone, fax machine, copiers, and printers. 
    • Operate motor vehicle to move among facilities and throughout the community. 

Supervisory Responsibility: Supervise residents and volunteers.

Travel: None 

 

Working Conditions:

Much of this job is performed indoors in normal room temperature conditions. When the duties require being outdoors, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. 

 

At times the duties will involve working with individuals having infectious and/or communicable diseases, disabilities, mental illness, and/or AODA issues.
