Responsibilities

The shelter staff is to maintain a safe, healthy environment for residents of the shelter program.

The staff is responsible to oversee scheduled shelter activities.

The Shelter staff must follow shelter policy and implement all shelter procedures as

Established by the director and corps officers of The Salvation Army.

The shelter staff member is expected to be attending all shelter staff meetings, in-service activities and at least 75% of scheduled seminars and conferences.

The shelter staff will report to the Shelter Director concerns and ideas regarding;

Residents of the program

Staff Scheduling problems

Program Ideas

Maintenance request

All absences are to be reported to the shelter director and proper documentation        

completed.

Maintain the shelter operation hours of Monday through Saturday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00

a.m., and Sunday from 1:00pm to 8:00am on Monday morning.

8)  Be available on an ‘on-call basis’ to provide staff coverage in the event of sick days, vacations, etc. of                                      Men’s Shelter staff.

Qualifications

The shelter staff member must have a basic understanding of human behavior and demonstrate the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds

Have knowledge regarding homelessness as a major social problem

Be willing to exhibit compassion and understanding for clients who reside at the shelter

Completed High School or GED

Some college or experience in social services is preferred.
