Receive donations, process and display merchandise, operate cash register and complete sales transactions; assists with providing quality customer service as part of the Thrift Store Operations.

  • Cross trains and works in all areas of store as needed.
  • Accepts and evaluates donations.
  • Maintains donation area cleanliness through the store's business hours.
  • Ensures quality of inventory by adhering to merchandise standards when accepting donations.
  • Cleans, prices and display merchandise.
  • Arranges merchandise displays throughout the store as assigned.
  • Operates cash register, assists with sales transaction and with the reconciliation of daily cash receipts.
  • Answers phone lines and provides customer service.
  • Assists customers on the sales floor and suggest sales when appropriate.
  • Builds positive donor relations by providing information regarding use of donations.
  • Actively supports a team environment among store associates.
  • Interacts appropriately and courteously with donors while on their property.
  • Ensures a safe work environment by keeping aisles and other areas clear of debris.
  • Unloads donations from truck.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience: Previous experience in a retail environment is preferred, but not required.

  • Must possess basic computer skills and be able to use a cash register.
  • Exercise excellent customer service.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and work well with others, including volunteers and co-workers.
  • Ability to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership and field personnel.
  • Must possess basic math skills.

The duties of this job will be primarily performed indoors under normal room temperatures. The noise level will generally be low. Work is performed in a typical retail environment. May require some weekend and evening work.
