Overview

Oversees the operations of the processing line by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate staff.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assign, direct and rotate to utilize in the most efficient manner the employees and beneficiaries assigned to work on the processing line.
  • Oversee all personnel, maintain proper behavior and language as represents Salvation Army policy.
  • Ensure that all merchandise is priced according to price guide.
  • Know all the functions of the processing line briefly described here:
  • Dumper-always keep the processing table full of credential.
  • Sorter-quickly inspect clothing to the quality standards of The Salvation Army.
  • Hanger-hang 6-7 pieces of clothing per minute.
  • Tagger-affix plastic attachments to all quality clothing.
  • Pricer-understand the Price Guide and apply proper grading to clothing.
  • Maintain quality and grading standards.
  • Must work at an appropriate pace to efficiently meet production goals. Must ensure processors meet pace and production.
  • Must meet expected production goals daily and weekly.
  • Price unmarked items of clothing.
  • Report safety hazards and ensure proper use, care and maintenance of processing equipment.
  • Must be able to apply all cost center policies and procedures as listed in the Store Manager-in-Training manual and enforce guidelines.
  • Order product through MOD and maintain accurate inventory of goods on hand, at all times.
  • Must train new personnel by regularly conducting training initiatives as outlined in the Store Manager-in-Training manual.
  • Must stay up to date on Consumer Product and Safety Commission rules, regulations and recalls.
  • Report to Supervisor any detrimental behavior by processing line personnel. Assist with reprimands at the request of Supervisor.
  • Responsible for Safe from Harm.
  • Use back guard provided when doing any substantial lifting or moving.
  • Support the mission statement of The Salvation Army.

 

 

OTHER DUTIES

All tasks or assignments as assigned by a supervisor or administrator. Responsible for adhering to all procedures and guidelines as outlined in the Store Manager-in-Training manual.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises processing line personnel and beneficiaries, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Salvation Army policies and applicable laws.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school graduate or equivalent.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Read and understand. Ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence and memos. Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Ability to speak effectively to employees of work area.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CLERICAL/MATHEMATICS SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and hear, see or talk. The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment for this position is typically a warehouse setting with moderate temperature control but can be exposed to outside weather. The noise level is moderate.
