The Salvation Army Mission: 

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church.  Its message is based on the Bible.  Its ministry is motivated by the love of God.  Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

 

Summary/Primary Purpose:  Responsible for preparing meals for any/all special events.

 

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  include the following:

  1. Plan meals accordingly or coordinate with Social Service Director.
  2. If utilizing volunteers, meet with them prior to preparations.
  3. Provide a simple orientation of any expectations of volunteers.
  4. Inform Social Service Director of any supplies needed.
  5. Prepare meals for Advisory Board monthly – 3rd Friday each month.
  6. Prepare meals for Senior Neighbor potluck monthly – 1st Thursday of month.
  7. Prepare meals for Senior Commodity Distribution per month – 2nd Thursday of month.
  8. Clean up utensils, pots, pans and other dishes as necessary.
  9. Report any problems or concerns to Social Service Director
  10. Direct any media interest or donor/support interest to Social Service Director.

 

Marginal Duties:  Other similar and related duties may be assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  No responsibilities.

Qualifications

Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

Education and/or Experience:  High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred; ServSafe Certification preferred or ability to complete within 6 months of hire.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: ServSafe preferred (within 6 months of hire)

 

Computer/Program Skills:  Basic computer knowledge needed to access time clock and personal information via a web-based system.

 

Other Qualifications:  Must pass all applicable background checks.  Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside.  Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.

 

Physical Requirements:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.  Must be able to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel.  Must be able to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear.  There are no special vision requirements.

There is moderate noise level for this position.
