Overview

Sort, hang, and qualify processed clothing by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

  • Stock racks, shelves, counters or tables with merchandise.
  • Understand the proper use of store fixtures and cost center terminology.
  • Help set up displays and arrange merchandise to promote sales.
  • Be able to colorize from lightest to darkest according to The Salvation Army color chart.
  • Maintain quality standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization to planogram.
  • Understand the rotation of clothing on the sales floor.
  • Must work at an appropriate pace to efficiently meet production goals, 20 minutes per clothing rack.
  • Responsible to maintain good customer relations by giving prompt, courteous assistance to customers.
  • Know the layout of the store to direct customers accordingly.
  • Use back guard provided when doing any substantial lifting or moving.
  • Support the mission statement of The Salvation Army.

OTHER DUTIES

All tasks or assignments as assigned by a supervisor or administrator. Responsible for adhering to all procedures and guidelines as outlined in the Store Manager-in-Training manual.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school graduate or equivalent.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence and memos. Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.  Ability to speak effectively to employees of work area. Understand verbal instruction in English.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and hear, see or talk. The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus and see color.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position works in a store environment with some temperature control and moderate noise levels.
