Responsibilities

Lead Teachers are responsible for the function of the classroom. The environment will be maintained to foster learning experiences and activities that are age and developmentally appropriate. Lead teachers are responsible for overseeing the direct supervision of the children and Assistant teachers. Lead teachers will use a team approach, involving the Assistant teachers in planning and implementation of the program.

 

 

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of an Associates Degree in Child Development or a related field or CDA(Child Development Associate Consortium) in conjunction with 480 hours of experience may be considered.
  • BA in Early Childhood Education or approved related field is required for Jr. Preschool and Preschool Lead teacher positions as per Head Start partnership agreement. 
  • Infant and Toddler Lead teachers must meet the minimum requirements in addition to 3 semester hours or 4.5 CEU’s in infant/toddler care practices. 
  • Must be 19 years of age.
  • Two years of experience directly related to the care of young children.
