Responsible for developing and providing educational curriculum and learning opportunities for participants. 


WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time up to 19 hours per week; Monday thru Wednesday 4:00pm to 7:00pm.


  1. Develop and implement age appropriate lessons within a defined curriculum area, specifically reading, art and "life skill" games, for each day of classes.
  2. Develop a healthy working relationship to share ideas and develop joint projects and activities.
  3. Visit daily as needed with parents about concerns and accomplishments for their child/children.
  4. Assist with the coordination and development of the Camp Celebration Night.
  5. Cheerfully provide service, leadership and mentoring to all children, guests, staff and volunteers of all ages, ethnicity and backgrounds.
  6. Proactively ensure a safe and clean environment for all staff, volunteers, members and participants.
  7. Appropriately handle any youth behavior issues or modifications.
  8. Provide additional support to the program staff and volunteers.
  9. Maintain good public relations at The Salvation Army Kroc Center. Work closely with the Education Department in the promotion of the Kroc Center program.
  10. Participate in designated staff training as assigned.
  11. Attend all scheduled team meetings and staff meetings as directed by the Education Manager.
  12. Schedule varies and can include evening and holiday hours.
  13. All other duties as assigned.




To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from a four-year college or university required. Active K-12 teaching certificate preferred.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:  English proficiency sufficient for communication with supervisors, co-workers, clients and customers. Spanish language skills preferred. Ability to read and interpret documents to include statistical and financial reports and be able to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


COMPUTER/PROGRAM SKILLS: Intermediate skill with Microsoft Office software, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel. General computer knowledge is required to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must successfully complete Safe From Harm training as established by The Salvation Army.  First Aid/CPR certification preferred.


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:  Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.
