Overview

Processes bric-a-brac by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

  • Stock racks, shelves, counters or tables with merchandise/supplies. Clean shelves, counters or tables, and merchandise.
  • Understand the proper use of store fixtures and cost center terminology.
  • Help set up displays and arrange merchandise to promote sales. Understand plan-o-gram as outlined in your specific store.
  • Be able to colorize from lightest to darkest according to The Salvation Army color chart.
  • Maintain quality and grading standards.
  • Must work at an appropriate pace to efficiently meet production goals.
  • Must meet expected production goals daily and weekly.
  • Tag, price, and sort qualified merchandise into appropriate carts.
  • Price unmarked items of bric-a-brac merchandise.
  • Understand the proper rotation of product.
  • Responsible to maintain good customer relations by giving prompt, courteous assistance to customers.
  • Know the layout of the cost center to direct customers accordingly.
  • Use back guard provided when doing any substantial lifting or moving.
  • Support the mission statement of The Salvation Army.

 

OTHER DUTIES

All tasks or assignments as assigned by a supervisor or administrator. Responsible for adhering to all procedures and guidelines as outlined in the Store Manager-in-Training manual.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

None.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.

Read and understand English. Understand verbal instruction in English.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.

 

CLERICAL/MATHEMATICS SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment for this position is typically a warehouse setting with moderate temperature control but can be exposed to outside weather. The noise level is moderate.
