POSITION TITLE:                     AV Technician

 

LOCATION/DEPT:                     Harbor Light

 

REPORTS TO:                          Community Center Evening Supervisor

 

FLSA CATEGORY:                   Non-Exempt

MISSION

The Salvation Army Harbor Light Corps and Community Center exist to express the mission and ministry of The Salvation Army through a safe, enriching and sacred environment where all individuals have access to opportunities to reach their physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential. 

 

PROGRAM/CLIENT ENVIRONMENT

The backgrounds of the clients served by The Harbor Light Program will manifest a variety of inappropriate behaviors.  When this occurs, employees are to respond within the context of the treatment environment of the site.  Employee conduct (actions, dress, etc) and interactions (conversations, written communications, etc.) with clients must also be within the treatment environment of the facility.    

 

OUTCOMES

Maintain day-to-day operations of events needing Audio Visual (AV) /sound setup and operations. Provide technical advice to help people effectively use computer software and hardware with a focus on the operation of equipment and software used in the development and delivery of audiovisual presentations.  Be available to operate and tech AV equipment in the center.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Audio/Visual/Sound Technician
    1. Set up for all events needing AV/Sound setup or operation.
    2. Check on events with AV needs as directed.
    3. Operate AV equipment in programs or rentals as assigned.
    4. Put all equipment away and locked up after use.
    5. Report any problems with equipment to DHQ IT department for repair or replacement.
    6. Operate the complicated systems of the chapel and rental rooms as needed.
  2. Sound Engineer Instructor/Computer Lab Instructor
    1. Ability to effectively communicate and instruct Sound Board.
  3. Working Relationships
    1. Work in a cooperative manner with the other staff members at the Harbor Light.
    2. Attend all scheduled staff meetings as requested.
    3. Refer to AV/IT Technician on day to day updates and directions regarding events.
  4. Maintain a safe working environment.
    1. Report all problems to the Community Center Director or DHQ IT.
    2. Maintain cleanliness of areas as work is performed.
  5. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma. System training will be provided.
  • Experience or training in supporting Yamaha sound boards, windows/I Pad operating systems and video/audio editing required.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • 1+ years of experience in supporting AV equipment and software preferred.

  • Knowledge of or the capacity to learn the AV systems used by the Harbor Light
  • Knowledge of how to effectively work with diversity in the workplace.
  • A willingness to promote the mission of The Salvation Army.
  • Receive Safe from Harm Training in 30 days from Hire. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is required to do moderate physical work. Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs.
  • In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use standard PC and AV equipment. 
  • The work environment for this position includes a community center environment with a medium to high noise level.
