Responsible for the direct supervision of children in the KidZone area with emphasis on safety and healthy activities to ensure a quality experience during the child’s visit. 


WORK SCHEDULE:  Part-time up to 19 hours per week; Sunday 1:00p - 5:30p; Monday thru Friday 3:30p - 8p; Saturday 9a - 5:30p.


  1. Assist in creative development and participate in execution of programming as well as community programs sponsored by the Kroc Center.
  2. Maintain cleanliness of the child care room by cleaning equipment, toys, play areas, and restrooms.
  3. Follow each step of the check-in/check-out procedures for all children.
  4. Inform supervisor if a child has been left for more than two hours.
  5. Ensure the safe use of the facility by enforcement of facility regulations.
  6. Provide information and answer questions about programs and activities available at the Kroc Center.
  7. On occasion, provide public tours keeping Kroc Center policies in mind.
  8. Assist with emergencies or accidents appropriately and complete incident reports as needed.
  9. Report any suspicion of child abuse to the appropriate coordinator or manager.
  10. Interact professionally with the public, business community, Salvation Army Officers, and Kroc Center staff.
  11. Cross train on Welcome Desk procedures and provide assistance when needed and ONLY when the KidZone is adequately staffed.
  12. Answer and direct all incoming phone calls to the appropriate department.
  13. Ensure KidZone is clean and orderly, as well as stocked with appropriate brochures and forms.
  14. Provide excellent customer service for parents and relate positively to young children.
  15. Schedule varies and may include evenings, weekends, and holiday hours.
  16. All other duties as assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and at least two years of related experience in Child Care/Customer Service.


LANGUAGE SKILLS: English proficiency sufficient for communication with supervisors, co-workers, clients and customers.  Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.   Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish preferred.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


COMPUTER/PROGRAM SKILLS: Beginner experience in Microsoft Word.  Basic computer knowledge needed to access time clock and personal information via a web-based system.
