Pick up donated items for the Thrift Store, as scheduled. Provide custodial services and maintain "thrift store" section of warehouse. Also coordinate and execute the movement of donated goods as directed.

  • Safe operation, use, refueling, care, and cleanliness of vehicle(s) assigned.
  • Pick up donated items for the Thrift Store as scheduled by the store manager.
  • Unload truck to specific areas of the store.
  • Maintain the "thrift store" section of the warehouse maintaining cleanliness and updating manager on inventory available for sale.
  • Be responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of the thrift store to include, but not limited to, clean bathroom and employee break room daily, clean refrigerator weekly, sweep and mop, keep parking lot clear of trash, restock supplies as needed.
  • Will be expected to maintain a high degree of integrity to ensure complete delivery of all donated items.
  • Will be expected to exercise discretion concerning the acceptance of donated goods.
  • Provide seasonal assistance as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Store Manager or Corps Officers.

  • Must hold or be able to meet all DMV certification or requirements for all vehicle (s) assigned.


  • At least one year experience with a "box truck"


  • Must have a good driving record and be able to pass the MVR requirements for The Salvation Army insurance.
  • Must be a self-starter

Supervisory Responsibility:

Truck Driver will have direct supervision of volunteers and community service workers, when assigned.

  • Must be able to lift at least one hundred (100) pounds.
  • Must be able to correctly use equipment provided to aid in lifting.
  • Must be able to hear using standard telephone receiver.


Some travel will take place within the greater La Crosse area. Occasionally travel could be further.


Working Conditions:

Conditions will include working in areas with dust and odors from donated items. Conditions will also include standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and lifting. Condition will be both indoors and out but primarily outdoors in various weather conditions.
