RAY and JOAN KROC CORPS COMMUNITY CENTER PURPOSE STATEMENT           

Inspire people to discover their God given talents and develop their potential through artistic, educational, physical, and spiritual experiences in a Christ-centered atmosphere.

 

SUMMARY/PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Health and Fitness Staff member will monitor safety, provide instruction/assistance, and offer outstanding customer service to members, guests, and employees.

 

WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time; up to 19 hours per week.  We are hiring 6 individuals to cover a variety of shifts.  Opening hours are 5a to 10a Monday through Friday; Evening hours are 6p to 11p Monday through Thursday (Friday until 10pm); Weekend hours vary.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide exceptional customer service to the Kroc Center’s members and guests by demonstrating safe and effective ways to use the department’s equipment. Educate Kroc clientele on how to reach their fitness goals.
  2. Maintain and clean equipment while keeping the equipment in an orderly fashion.
  3. Perform daily responsibilities including fitness evaluations, balance assessments, equipment orientations, fitnessgram testing and leading small group instructional sessions on the proper ways to use specific equipment.
  4. Lead “Kroc Introduction to Exercise” classes as assigned.
  5. Gather, document, and data entry of statistical information and customer contacts as assigned.
  6. Attend all required staff meetings and in-service training and complete all required reviews of emergency and safety protocol as assigned.
  7. Provide support for all fitness instructors as needed.
  8. All other duties as assigned. 

MARGINAL DUTIES:  Other similar and related duties may be assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  None.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  High school diploma or equivalent (GED).  No prior experience necessary; will train on the job.  Personal working knowledge of general guidelines for safe and effective cardiovascular and strength training exercises preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: English proficiency sufficient for communication with supervisors, co-workers, clients and customers. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS:  Proficient in Microsoft programs including Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel.  Basic computer knowledge needed to access time clock and personal information via a web based system.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:  Cardiovascular Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional (CPR for Pro) and First Aid.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Must pass all applicable background checks.

This position is exposed to indoor and outdoor environments throughout the year.  Works near moving mechanical parts.  There is moderate noise from operating fitness equipment and loud noise in the aerobics classes.
