Responsible for overall supervision of all daily cleaning and maintenance of the Manitowoc Salvation Army’s facilities.


  • Supervises paid staff and volunteers to complete the following tasks or those assigned by the Office Administrator or CO.
  • Cleans or assigns Janitorial Staff to all areas of the properties utilized by The Salvation Army’s administrative and social service programs, following a daily cleaning schedule. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Properly cleaning the restroom facilities
    • Sweeping
    • Mopping
    • Vacuuming
    • Set-up and tear down for various programs and events
    • Empting trash
  • Maintains cleanliness of the janitor’s closet/laundry room
  • Ensures adequate cleaning supplies are available, and notifies the Office Administrator when supplies are needed.
  • Attends staff meetings and participates in special events when requested.
  • Responsible for daily pickups of donated items from various stores.
  • Responsible to special projects that may include light construction, assembly or repair of Salvation Army Property.
  • Informs supervisor of any task or repair that would require a professional and seeks quotes for such work from multiple vendors.
  • Fosters positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with parents, children, co-workers and supervisors. This includes, but is not limited to, such actions as: courteous treatment of staff, visitors, parents and children; respect of others’ property and person.
  • Other responsibilities may include:
    • Working additional hours during holidays or to cover for other maintenance staff during vacations or other absences.
    • Snow removal as needed.
    • Lawn care
    • Other duties as appropriate and assigned for this position.




Six months of related work experience.


  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be trustworthy and able to work without supervision.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Good organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and follow through on assignments.
  • Ability to think independently and exercise sound judgment.
