POSITION TITLE:         Health Aide


LOCATION/DEPT:         Child Care


REPORTS TO:              Health Manager



Under the supervision of the Health Manager, assist in the coordination of the health and nutrition components with Head Start site and managers.



  1. Assist in the coordination and implementation of the health component as defined by Head Start Standards.
  2. Assist in providing technical assistance to center staff, and meets with staff on a regular basis.
  3. Reviews health tracking and documentation for the purpose of providing technical assistance to center staff.
  4. Assures timely completion of services to children as indicated by Performance Standards and City and State licensing standard requirements, including facilitating the direct delivery of services such as immunizations, hearing and vision screenings, etc. as needed.
  5. As computer resources become available, supports site staff in utilizing electronic systems for maintaining health data.
  6. Assist staff in supporting families as they identify a “medical home”.
  7. Works with site staff to include family health needs in “Family Partnership Agreement”.
  8. Supports site staff in development of community partnerships with health provider.
  9. All other duties as assigned.



  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required or Medical Assistance Program.
  • Experience in working with ethnically diverse, disadvantaged and under-served children and families.
  • A minimum of one year experience in maternal and child health or related field.



  • An excellent attention to detail, procedures, processes and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, priorities and staff in a constantly changing environment.
  • Communication and management style that exhibits the principles and values of the Army as well fosters team relationships and effectively communicates information.
  • Possess ability to multitask with a strong awareness of deadlines.
  • An attention to detail.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities.

  • An ability to work with confidential material.




This position is required to do light physical work. 


In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use standard office equipment and a PC. 


The work environment for this position includes an office environment with a low noise level.
