Work with the Family Thrift Store Manager to effectively and efficiently direct the operation of The Salvation Army Ludington Thrift Store. This is a physically demanding position,requiring standing, walking and climbing in and out of tractor trailers. The Family Thrift Store operation is a key part of the church's outreach ministry and proceeds are distributed to the community each year. Job responsibility is to support The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures under the leadership of Family Thrift Store Manager that is recommended by the leadership of the Corps Officer to hire.

 

Responsibilities

Areas of Responsibility:

  1. Customer Service
  2. Encourage Sales
  3. Receiving

Specific Functions:

  • Be responsible for maintaining the area where the donations and sorting are being done. Responsibilities will include security, safety, and cleanliness of the area.
  • Must work well with others and be able to assist the donations center coordinator in training and coordinating volunteers.
  • Be physically able to lift heavy objects up to 60 pounds and be able to work on ladders as necessary. Furniture and appliance loading and unloading will be accomplished as needed; this will include driver pick ups.
  • Must be timely and well organized.
  • Schedule donations that need to be picked up in the community.
  • Be able to drive The Salvation Army truck to pick up.
  • Maintain The Savlation Army truck with essential fluids and keep it fueled at all times. At the end of the day the vehicle will be cleaned and prepared for the next usage.
  • Keep an accurate maintenance log on the truck. Anytime the truck is serviced it needs to be forwarded to the Corps officer.

Qualifications

Have an energy and enthusiasm for helping people. Need to have the ability to communicate with other co-workers and Corps officers. Need to have organizational skills.

High School diploma.

Ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a postive manner.

Ability to deal calmly and effectively with high stress situations.

Adherence to The Salvation Army's "Protecting the Mission - Safe from Harm" policy and all child safety guidelines.

Must have valid Michigan Commercial Drivers License.

Detail oriented self starter.

Someone that can keep confidentiality a high priority.
