SUMMARY/PRIMARY PURPOSE:  The Membership Assistant coordinates the effective acquisition and retention of members, along with all tasks and systems related to processing and promoting membership in the Kroc Center.  Included is the ongoing assistance in daily support/operations of the Membership and Guest Services Departments.


WORK SCHEDULE:  Part-time; Sunday 1:00pm to 6:00pm, Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday 5:00pm to 9:00pm, Friday 9:00am to 5:30pm.  


  • Execute the short and long-range strategy for the Membership Department in support of goals set by Administration in order to obtain Membership growth and retention.
  • Provide tours and takes the lead role in promoting membership and programming in the Kroc Center. Participate as assigned in the promotion of the center at community events.
  • Coordinate and execute member retention activities/services.
  • Provide excellent customer service, to include complaint resolution principles, practices and procedures while maintaining a positive attitude and approach.
  • Responsible for supporting and processing memberships and scholarships.
  • Responsible for assisting with analysis and reporting of membership and scholarship utilization and statistics and making recommendations for process adjustments where appropriate.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert in all systems used for membership and center operations pertaining to customers, to include training other staff and executing maintenance of databases.
  • Participate in designated staff training and professional development courses as required.
  • Follow and insure adherence to The Salvation Army Kroc Center and Guest Services/Membership policies and procedures.
  • Works in tandem with Guest Services Department. May have assigned hours or stand in for staff as Open/Close staff where necessary. Provides support for Guest Services staff and act in a Lead capacity when requested by management.
  • Plan content for regular meetings and trainings for staff.
  • Schedule is varied and includes evenings, weekends and some holidays.

MARGINAL DUTIES:  Other similar and related duties may be assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are no regular supervisory responsibilities, but will occasionally supervise Guest Services staff as necessary in a support capacity.


QUALIFICATIONS:  To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least two (2) years of related experience working in a service environment with some supervisory responsibilities.


LANGUAGE SKILLS: English proficiency sufficient for communication with supervisors, co-workers, clients and customers. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


COMPUTER/PROGRAM SKILLS: Beginner experience and knowledge in Accounting/Payroll and the internet.  General computer knowledge is required to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.

Will be asked to work in outdoor environments or other conditions on an irregular basis.
