KROC CENTER OF GREATER GREEN BAY MISSION

In keeping with the mission of The Salvation Army, The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center provides facilities, programs and services that strengthen, encourage, and enrich children, adults, and seniors through positive life-changing experiences.

 

SUMMARY/PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Music Instructor will be responsible for planning and teaching group and private music lessons at The Salvation Army Kroc Center.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  This job description should not be interpreted as all inclusive.  It is intended to identify the essential functions and requirements of this position.  The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this job description.

 

  1. Teach group and / or private music lessons in various media types, including vocal.
  2. Prepare lesson plans for applicable classes.
  3. Provide attendance and registration data to be entered into the Community Center Management System (CCMS).
  4. Evaluate student performance and learning.
  5. Provide regular and timely evaluation feedback to students.
  6. Provide student learning outcomes and program learning outcomes to Arts & Education Supervisor.
  7. Assist in the recruitment of new students.
  8. Participate in regular in-service training sessions as directed by supervisor.

 

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT: Uses a variety of musical instruments and equipment, as well as, office equipment including a computer, telephone, fax machine, copiers, printers and projection machines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Music preferred.  One year of formal education or training required.
  • 1+ years of experience in teaching music classes required.

 OR –

 

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: None.

  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to teach, supervise and mentor music students.
  • Ability to play musical instrument(s).
  • Ability to read music.
  • Ability to perform comfortably in a variety of settings.
  • Ability to interact with different age groups. 
  • Ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Knowledge of musical styles and techniques.
