POSITION TITLE:                     Back Up Site Manager – Congregate and Home Delivered Meals

 

LOCATION/DEPT:                     Golden Diners Nutrition Program

 

REPORTS TO:                          Program Coordinator

 

FLSA CATEGORY:                   Non-Exempt

 

STATUS TYPE:                          Part-Time

 

OUTCOMES  

The Back Up Site Manager is responsible for the effective operation of the Golden Diners site over which she/he presides, whenever assigned to fill in for the permanent site manager. It is necessary the Back Up Site Manager be familiar with the purpose and philosophy of the program, and in hearty accord with the same namely:

 

To provide older Americans, 60 years of age and over, with low cost nutritionally sound meals. Promote better health among the older segment of our population through improved nutrition, thus reducing the isolation of old age, and offering the older American the opportunity to live their remaining years in dignity.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  1. Oversee the day to day activities at the site.
  1. Execute the duties necessary to provide a Congregate Meal Program, including the following:
    1. Prepare, portion and serve the food for the congregate meals.
    2. Maintain proper food temperatures until food is served.
    3. Take reservations and cancellations for meals, ensuring timely notification to the Membership Coordinator.
    4. Act as Host/Hostess to participants and program speakers, creating a comfortable atmosphere for congregate participants.
    5. Coordinate clean up after meals are served.
    6. Record attendance and donations for meals.
    7. Collect and count all congregate donations daily, with second counter present. Deposit donations at bank designated by administration, when instructed to do so.
    8. Encourage congregate members to mention benefits of program to other seniors.
  1. Execute the duties necessary to provide a Home Delivered Meal Program, including the following:
    1. Coordinate drivers/volunteers to portion and package food for home delivered meals.
    2. Take and report to the Membership Coordinator, any “Holds” or “Restarts” of home meal delivery clients.
    3. See that the delivery routes are assigned and followed as set forth by the Membership Coordinator
    4. Be able to fill in as a driver in an emergency.
    5. Report to the Membership Coordinator in a timely manner, any information that directly relates to the well-being of the home meal delivery client or the ability to successfully deliver meals to the client.
    6. Follow and ensure that Golden Diners Home Meal Delivery Guidelines and Procedures are adhered to.
    7. Maintain and submit to the Membership Coordinator, the Weekly Route Roster of meals delivered.
    8. Ensure that end of route temperatures are taken and recorded on the longest route at least once per month.
    9. Work to maintain proper food temperatures on the route through proper packing of meals and the utilization of ice sheets and hot plates.
    10. Ensure the daily sanitation of delivery bags.

 

  1. Assist the Volunteer Coordinator in the recruitment of volunteers in the local community.
  1. Train volunteers and staff in the daily tasks of the meal program, including safe food handling practices and home meal delivery guidelines and procedures.
  1. Act as a resource for seniors by providing referrals to other senior service agencies as needed.
  1. Maintain the necessary records to document volunteers, participants and donations.
  1. Submit reports to administrative office on a timely basis.
  1. Follow up on drop-outs by telephone calls, mail or personal visits.
  1. Organize inventory and order food and supplies, adhering to the ordering schedule set by program management. Purchase groceries at designated local stores as needed, at minimal cost, utilizing the store gift cards and certificates available through the office, whenever possible.
  1. Distribute volunteer recognition items as they are given to the site from the Volunteer Coordinator.
  1. Attend all Site Manager meetings and special training sessions.
  1. Maintain a good rapport with site hosts, adhering to the site agreement, and coordinating monthly events and meal calendars with them as needed.
  1. Maintain a current Food Service Sanitation License.
  1. All other duties as assigned.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS  

This position reports to the Program Coordinator.

 

This individual relates to, interacts with, a wide range of contacts both within and outside the Salvation Army. In these contacts, they act as a representative of the Army and its mission.

 

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, as well as the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Obtain Food Service Sanitation License within 90 days of hiring date.
  • Previous experience working with the senior population preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.

POSITION LIMITATIONS

  • This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
  • This individual will keep the Program Coordinator informed on all critical issues relating to his/her area of responsibility.
  • This individual will adhere to all Army policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is required to do light to moderate physical work. Must be able to lift or move at least 20lbs.
  • In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use standard kitchen equipment.
  • May be required to walk up and down stairs and operate a vehicle.
  • The work environment for this position includes an office or outdoor environment with a low to high noise level.
