Position Summary

The Marketing/PR Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the marketing, public relations and membership plans that enhance and compliment the image and programs of The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center.

Responsibilities

Assist in development of the Marketing and Advertising plan  

  1. Create marketing calendar with deadlines for internal and external print needs, advertising and events.
  2. Collect and track data where it is applicable for measuring marketing & PR plan success
  3. Assist Marketing Manager with all graphic design projects, internal and external
  4. Be creative in sharing new ideas and trends for all areas of the Kroc Center.
  5. Assist in designing logos, graphic elements, and print/digital communications for both internal and external audiences.
  6. Assist in writing and disseminating a variety of external marketing communications through either electronic or mailed formats.
  7. Assist in having marketing materials converted to Spanish when applicable
  8. Manage vendor relationships with printers and mail facilities.

Assist with Public Relations and Media

  1. Responsible for the preparation, posting and distribution of press releases, media alerts, feature stories, event alerts and media invites and other communication regarding The SBK programing needs, in consultation with the Director of Marketing and Communications.
  2. Assists in the development and maintenance of positive, long-term relationships with media. This may include regular telephone calls, letters, emails, face-to-face meetings and lunch or dinner meetings.
  3. Presents SBK to community leaders, groups and organizations through identifying and executing networking opportunities, trade shows, community events and other community engagement opportunities.
  4. Works collaboratively with Volunteer and Special Events Coordinator to promote SBK events.
  5. Facilitate all Christmas Media relations with/for the Senior Kroc Officers.
  6. Assist with all photography for internal and external events

Assist with Sponsorship Sales

  1. Obtain sponsorships that support events and programs
  2. Identify key decision makes for sponsorship opportunities that align with the Kroc Center mission
  3. Create sponsorships for a variety of business types in the local community

Coordinate External Marketing Events

  1. Coordinate and help to execute marketing external events that promote all areas of the SBK.
  2. Help track and measure success of marketing, membership or PR events.
  3. Coordinate apparel or other personnel items purchases for all Kroc departments including work with vendors to ensure best pricing and quality.
  4. Create and execute a Kroc apparel program that allows staff to easily receive and/or purchase apparel in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in related field of marketing or communications. Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully in the position will be considered.
  2. Minimum of two years of experience in a related field of marketing, advertising, or public relations. Nonprofit marketing experience is a plus.
  3. Proficiency in copy writing and editing for a variety of print and web applications.
  4. The ability to read, write and communicate in English is required. The ability to also communicate in Spanish is a plus.
  5. Extensive skill in designing and editing within Adobe Creative Cloud software.
  6. Proficient PC-based computer skills required in the latest versions of MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus, or equivalent.
