Overview

The Quincy Kroc Center is seeking candidates for a full-time, salaried position with full benefit eligibility (Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Pension, 14 Paid Holidays, Vacation, Sick).  

 

The Fitness & Wellness Specialist is responsible for overseeing the implementation, promotion, evaluation and operations of fitness and wellness programs within the Kroc Center.  These areas include all land and water fitness classes, the personal training program, community fitness initiatives, the fitness and weight room areas and instructional classes.  This position will also be responsible for hiring, training, and supervising all staff members associated with each program and/or service in the above mentioned areas. 

Responsibilities

This job description is not all inclusive. It is intended to identify the essential duties of the position.  Other duties, responsibilities and tasks may be assigned at the discretion of management.

  1. Recruit, hire, train and evaluate staff in each area of responsibility.
  2. Develop, implement, evaluate and oversee all fitness classes, the personal training, program, wellness programs, fitness initiatives, and instructional classes.
  3. Develop policies and procedures for all programmatic and service areas under their purview, including assisting in development of policies for the Kroc Center.
  4. Ability to plan and lead fitness classes on your own.
  5. Seek out and develop collaborative relationships with individuals and/or businesses in the community to develop high quality programs and services.
  6. Create and oversee specialized programs aimed at engaging target populations in fitness, wellness and health education.
  7. Work closely with the Operations Director to develop a comprehensive program plan which will meet the needs of our members, while being fiscally responsible to the Kroc Center and The Salvation Army.

Qualifications

The information listed below is representative of the minimal requirements for this position. 

 

Education & Certifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, physical education, fitness and nutrition, or other closely related field is required.  A Master’s degree is preferred. 
  • Current personal training and/or group exercise certification from one of the following organizations (ACSM, ACE, NASM, NSCA, or AFAA) must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment. 
  • Must be CPR, First Aid & AED certified or receive certification in first 90 days. 

 

Experience:  

  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in programming of a fitness, strength and or wellness program is required.  
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience in a fitness work environment is required.  An equivalent combination of training and directly related experience will be considered.
