POSITION TITLE:             Housekeeping/Set Ups

 

LOCATION/DEPT:             Wonderland Camp and Conference Center

 

REPORTS TO:                   Assistant Camp Director

 

FLSA CATEGORY:              Non-Exempt

 

STATUS TYPE:                  Full-Time

 

MISSION

The Salvation Army Wonderland Camp and Conference Center exists to support the ministry of the Salvation Army by providing the opportunity to experience Christ through focused programs in a natural, safe, camp conference environment.

Responsibilities

OUTCOMES

Ensure excellent service to camp guests by keeping the meeting spaces, common area facilities, and sleeping areas clean. Any repairs will be taken care of immediately or reported to the supervisor. The facilities will be kept free from garbage and will be maintained in all types of weather.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Clean meeting spaces and bathrooms. Maintain the space during the guest’s visit- inside and out.
  2. Setup meeting spaces according to the guest visit summary (tables, chairs, AV equipment, etc.)
  3. Clean sleeping rooms and gathering spaces- make beds, clean bathrooms, and showers, distribute towels and linens, vacuum all floors- in a timely manner.
  4. In Cabins- disinfect, clean bathrooms, fold blankets and place pillows neatly on beds.
  5. Haul and dispose of garbage/Haul used linens to Laundry.
  6. Must be able to move furniture as needed.
  7. Carpet cleaning and floor waxing as needed.
  8. Handle small maintenance repairs and maintain upkeep of equipment.
  9. Perform seasonal deep cleaning of windows, walls, floors, etc.
  10. Refill/maintain supplies in each location
  11. Work may entail weekends occasionally.
  12. All other duties assigned (May be in other departments)

  • The incumbent will be required to travel by personal vehicle, organization vehicle or other mode of travel as required supporting the mission of The Salvation Army.

  • Close and distance vision and ability to focus to drive a vehicle.

Mental Activities and Requirements of Position

 

Mathematics Ability

  • Ability to perform basic math skills, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages.
  • Ability to prepare budgets.

Language Ability

  • Ability to fluently speak read and write in English.
  • Ability to read a variety of books, magazines, instruction manuals, atlases, and encyclopedias.
  • Ability to prepare memos, reports, and essays using proper punctuation, spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to communicate distinctly with appropriate pauses and emphasis; correct punctuation and variation in word order; using present, perfect, and future tenses.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited standardization.
  • Able to interpret various instructions.

Background Checks:  Position requires background checks to be accomplished.  Findings may disqualify an individual for this position.

 

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum age of 19 years.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 or more lbs.
  • Must be able to work with chemicals and cleaning equipment.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Report.
  • Experience in cleaning and meeting room setup preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is required to do physical work.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk, reach with arms and hands, and stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to drive camp vehicle provided.
  • The work environment for this position includes a camping environment with an average noise level.
  • Work will be indoors in a temperature-controlled environment with potential high and low noise levels, and work will be outdoors which will be cold in winter and hot in the summer with potential high and low noise levels.

Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Risk Level:

 

Risk Level 2 - The task or activities conducted by Risk Level 2 workers do not involve reasonably anticipated exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials, but could result in such exposure in non-routine, emergency situations. 

 

Workers in Risk Level 2 include:

 

  • Workers who provide first aid on a non-routine, emergency basis (and not as a primary part of their work) at Corps Community Centers, Adult Rehabilitation Centers, day care programs and camps (including lifeguards), in disaster work and at other residential or nonresidential programs; and
  • Workers who assist children or adults in eating or in taking medications, other than in hospitals, clinics, detoxification facilities or AIDS programs.
